Fleetwood Mac - Silver Springs
This song was left off the original and best known issue of Rumours for reasons of space. It was reportedly a very personal and important song to Stevie, and the decision to leave it off left her very hurt and angry. In any case. Rumours is a near-perfect album. And the reissue just doesn’t sound right with this track stuck in there at the beginning of side two. But if the decision had been left up to me back in 1977, I certainly can’t say that it’s the song I would have chosen to cut.
i would’ve dumped the christine mcvie song songbird. i goddamn hate that song. HATE it. she’s a good back up singer to nicks/buckingham—but I *hate* her songwriting. I *hate* her solo singing. and her songs. *hate*. oh daddy is slightly less heinous, but doesn’t reach even “tolerable” for me. I *always* forward over those songs. *always*. whiney heinous whine. that’s what it sounds like to me. my ears shrivel and die.
this song tho—is beautiful. i think it’s the best version out of all of them.
